David Scott Lighting provides a full range of lighting design services for all residential and commercial projects including new construction and remodels. The services available range from an on-site consultation in which design ideas are suggested to the complete handling of the lighting plan from concept to final installation. The complete version of the design process is summarized below.

Design Process

• To begin, David Scott Lighting meets with the client and all other parties involved (architect, designer, installer, etc..) to discuss the lighting needs and design goals for the project. The plans are reviewed to get a feel for the project and the appropriate lighting needs.
• After discussing the lighting goals, DSL creates an appropriate lighting plan. The plan includes a complete specification list of all fixtures to be used, the exact location and placement, and the appropriate dimming controls. When necessary, detailed installation drawings are shown. Budgetary pricing is also included.
• The proposed plan is reviewed with the client. Any changes are made and the plan revised.
• If there is an electrician already on the project, DSL goes over the plan with him/her.
• In most situations, part of the lighting needs to be installed before the drywall goes up. It is very important that the "rough-in" placement is double-checked so that costly mistakes are eliminated. DSL goes to the job site during this time to see that the correct lighting has been placed in the proper location.
• Throughout the project, DSL is available to answer any questions or to help solve unforeseen situations that may arise.
• After all items are installed, DSL visits the home again to fine-tune the lighting. This is one of the most important steps involving aiming, changing bulbs, and adding glare shields when necessary.
